Neuroeducation

Mission Statement

Neuroeducation has several broad goals. These include thorough assessments of brain-based behavior, and quality individualized treatment for children, adolescents, and adults with learning, behavioral, cognitive and/or emotional difficulties. Assessments can include diagnostic interviews, behavioral observations, family interviews, and subjective and objective psychological and educational testing. Our approach involves both quantitative (number of right answers) and qualitative (how an answer is arrived at) analysis. Individualized treatment plans can include individual educational counseling, individual/family psychotherapy, psychoeducational groups, and/or referrals to other professions (e.g., neurologists, and speech pathologists). Our treatment plans are aimed at assisting our patients in triumphantly overcoming learning and/or emotional disorders. In stressing quality, we expect to meet and exceed the expectations and requirements of our patients. School personnel often know that something is causing the problem for a student, but they are unable to diagnose what combinations of cognitive and emotional difficulties are involved. Psychologists know about the emotional challenges, but may not understand how to apply this knowledge to the challenges an individual has in school or on the job. Neuroeducation is the bridge between the two – coordinating what the school or job requires and matching how the learning and/or emotionally challenged person can best meet these needs. A final goal for Neuroeducation, which weaves throughout all we do, is to provide a workplace that is joyful, energetic, and aimed at continual personal and professional growth. Improvement in our work is continually stressed in all areas, personal as well as professional. Improvement is not considered to be a one-time event. We will provide these services with a positive attitude toward our clients, their families, and each other. In addition, we will serve as coordinators of care by forming an interdisciplinary team with each professional working with a client, communicating with each team member, and relaying this communication to the client and their family.
